It was announced today that the string bands will be changing the way they conduct their order of march drawing for the 2019 Mummers Parade.
- Greater Overbrook, Greater Kensington, Durning, Pennsport and Broomall will march in the 1-5 positions in 2019. The exact position for each band will be made at a drawing on February 2 at the Mummers Museum.
- Uptown, Avalon, Aqua, Hegeman, Polish American and Duffy will march in the 6-11 positions in 2019. The exact position for each band will be made at a drawing on February 2 at the Mummers Museum.
- South Philly, Woodland, Quaker City, Ferko and Fralinger will march in the 12-16 positions in 2019. The exact position for each band will be made at a drawing on February 2 at the Mummers Museum.

Need to internet the parade with the stingbands worldly and start a go fund us page to support the expenses of string bands
It the parade was down in South Philly from Oregon Avenue until the old Saint Agnes it probably would deaw folks. In the 1970’s the you would televise the string band performances from Saint Agnes before the bands would walk down to City Hall for judging.
can anyone tell me when the show is in Feb? My father is ill and has always wanted to go to the string band show of shows. We would like to make that happen this year
I believe the Show of Shows in Atlantic City was done away with years ago due to lack of support. Best bet is to call any SB to make absolutely they haven’t started something else in its place
This was noted to be unfair years ago. Changing the rules again makes me think something is fishy!!!!

Why did Quaker get upset that they are in 4th and Fralinger didn’t come in first. This basically is the end of the parade as we know it or will want to know it. Makes it almost impossible for all the other bands except the top 4 to make it out of their group.Soon bands will give up because they are pigeon holed in a position and never get higher and bands will fold. Then maybe the top 5 can have a parade by themselves. Totally ridiculous.
Very true. Maybe the top three bands can hold their competition in a parking lot. The parade is dead.
Can’t believe the SBA is wasting its time manipulating the rules AGAIN. The parade is dying faster than the rules change.
Wake up group!
The streets are empty now, imagine now people coming just to see the bands marching last because they are deemed to be the best.
Better to have jungle a few bands who can’t really compete so as not to have poor bands grouped together or at the end.
